Blocked ears can be extremely unpleasant and are almost impossible to self-treat safely and effectively. At Magnolia clinic we are delighted to offer ear wax removal with DC Health.
Earwax removal uses either water irrigation or a micro suction vacuum to gently remove any excess wax from your ears. It’s one of the most effective services for cleaning your ears.
The procedure uses a microscope to view your ear canal and a small hoover-like suction probe to remove ear wax from the canal. It is a gentle and pain free procedure. Microsuction is considered safer than ear syringing, which uses the pressure from a jet of water to dislodge the wax, as microsuction is done under direct observation with a microscope and no water goes into the canal.

What to Expect

Your wax removal appointment will take around 20 mins.

Please arrive early to complete a consent form that is required to be completed before every appointment.

After getting a better understanding of the health of your ears, our clinician will examine your ear canals and ear drums by using an otoscope (magnifier with a light).

We’ll then talk you through the procedure and show you the equipment that will be used.

Once you are happy to go ahead, our clinician will use microscope head loupes and a suction tube to gently remove any wax that’s in your ear.

After our clinician has performed the procedure, they will then check the health of your ears and record this information.

If we are unsuccessful in removing any wax, we’ll advise you on your next steps. Typically this will be a follow up appointment at no extra cost.
