Restore harmony and balance to your life

About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the longest established forms of healthcare in the world. Whilst often associated with pain relief, the acupuncture we practice at Magnolia can be extremely effective in helping individuals with a variety of emotional, mental and physical issues. It takes a holistic approach, and treats you as a whole as opposed to focusing solely on the presenting issue.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturists are trained to use subtle diagnostic techniques that have been developed and refined for thousands of years.

What makes this system so uniquely suited to modern life is that physical, emotional and mental are seen as interdependent, and reflect what many people perceive as the connection between the different aspects their lives.

The kinds of issues that are regularly seen in practice include...

Musculoskeletal problems: back and joint pains, sports injuries and sciatica
Digestive Issues: nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, IBS
Neurological: headaches, migrane, bells palsy, neuralgia
Mental/emotional: depression, anxiety, stress, poor memory
Respiratory: asthma, ENT problems, sinusitis, hay fever
Sleep: insomnia, excessive dreaming/nightmares
Dermatological/skin: psoriasis, eczema, acne, itching
Female/gynae issues: PMT, period pain, fertility issues

The Experience

Our private Acupuncture consultation room

Your first treatment (initial consultation) will be an informal discussion regarding your medical history and details of your main complaint and any other health complaints you may have. This can be time consuming, but it is essential for the correct traditional diagnosis. It will take approx 90 minutes and you will receive your first acupuncture treatment on this occasion. You will be talked through the entire process to put you at complete ease.

The follow up treatment and any future treatments will include a brief discussion and then your acupuncture treatment. The routine treatment will take between 45 mins and one hour.

Acupuncture is not a one-off treatment and it is recommended to have at least four treatments. A realistic estimate of how often you will need to be seen and the number of treatments you will need will be given to you and any questions answered.

Reaching Out

I am a person that has suffered from anxiety for most of my life which has resulted in high levels of physical tension. After trying many different therapies it was recommended to me that I try acupuncture and cupping. After only 5 sessions with Maria I feel a different person, more relaxed, balanced, less tense which has lifted my mood. Maria is truly dedicated to her work and helping people. I really enjoy the cupping therapy as it instantly releases physical tension and strangely gives you more natural energy. Acupuncture and Cupping therapy combined will be part of my life going forward as I feel the benefits are incredible. I highly recommend that you give it a go if you are suffering from stress, tension or any other physical or mental ailment as I am sure you will not be disappointed.
